Éragny-sur-Oise, Fleurieux-sur-l'Arbresle, October 13, 2021, 5:45 pm Central European Time-Safe Orthopedics (FR0013467123-ALSAF), a company specializing in the design, manufacturing and marketing of ready-made technologies for Back surgery, especially for emergency treatment of vertebral fractures, announced the first surgery under SORA and the deployment of two other SORA devices.

SORA provides three main functions:

1) Auxiliary selection of implants and devices in the operating room: SORA eliminates the risk of incorrect product selection, tracks batch numbers and informs all relevant hospital departments of all relevant hospital departments that have been implanted.

2) Virtual assistants for surgeons and medical staff: The surgical documentation of implants and instruments contained in SORA can be accessed through software and online surgical assistance. SORA provides virtual assistance through an interactive touch screen. It is also possible to virtually invite safety orthopedic experts to answer questions before, during and after the operation.

3) Automated replenishment and inventory management support: By automating the ordering process, SORA helps reduce the delivery time after each operation, improve the operation plan, and reduce time, resources and logistics costs for the hospital.

As announced on January 4, 2021, during the launch of the virtual operating room assistant, the first targeted evaluation was initiated by Dr. Vallèse, the head of the Bourg-en-Bresse conversion clinic. Two other SORA units are currently being deployed in Paris and Frankfurt.

Pierre Dumouchel, Chairman and CEO of Safe Orthopaedics, said: "In addition to the medical economics of our Safe Orthopaedics ready-to-use technology, we are now deploying new digital services to improve patient care, increase hospital logistical efficiency, and reduce related Cost. SORA is Safe Group's strategic platform for innovation and growth. We thank Dr. Vallèse of Convert Clinic and his team for fully participating in SORA's assessment. We look forward to manufacturing new SORA devices for deployment in the new French and German centers by the end of 2021. We hope to deploy this model internationally in 2022 and develop new clinical and digital education functions."

Dr. Pierre Vallèse, orthopedic surgeon and first assessor of SORA surgical assistant, gave the first progress report:

How important is optimizing the operation time for you, and how important is it for the medical team to have a simple and fast solution to ensure the traceability of the implant and the replenishment of materials within 24 hours?

"Surgery time is an important parameter of our surgical practice. Without falling into the trap of excessive profitability, optimizing the operation time can have a beneficial impact on the incidence of sepsis complications, team efficiency and improvement of surgical procedures. Management in recent years In recent years, implantable devices in medical institutions have become more and more complex, and replenishment or inventory problems often occur. All of these will create pressure within the team and lead to the transfer of responsibilities, and may lead to adverse events. The SORA solution is perfect The answer solves this problem by providing real-time access to the availability of materials on the screen. Once the machine delivers the implant, the order is immediately transmitted to Safeortho via the Internet connection, ensuring fast replenishment hours in less than 24 hours. By restricting the implanter The number of intermediaries between the manufacturer and the manufacturer is traceable. It is more reliable and better to assume responsibility. In fact, when there is a problem with the availability or expiration of the implant, it is useless to find the person in charge in the pharmacy or operating room Yes, because only surgeons perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the front line. Therefore, surgeons can control the implants while freeing themselves from the administration, which is a good thing."

Do you think Safe's virtual assistance in the operating room can help you (or your OR team)?

"In addition to the logistical support provided by the SORA solution, virtual assistance is an innovative step forward. The staff can consult all operating techniques directly on the machine screen, and can establish a video connection with technical consultants in the event of a problem. This limitation It can increase the number of people in your operating room, and at the same time ensure the technical assistance that is often needed. I noticed that the young IBODE has a real interest in this kind of digital auxiliary equipment that they have perfectly mastered. The tablet computer has very intuitive information. High quality.

Do you think the industry should develop digital solutions to facilitate patient management, from the first consultation to surgical scheduling and post-operative follow-up?

"Yes, of course, because we need to provide our patients with the best technology and the best implants. Cooperation between the industry and surgeons is essential to achieve high-quality research. Digital tools bring This is an undeniable performance because it allows cross-referencing clinical and conceptual data about the implant. It also allows to protect this data by referring to RGPD rules. Access is controlled and each operator can be restricted to avoid any drift of the system. Indeed, it is important that each party (surgeons and industrialists) maintain their independence, and that the main participant, the patient, has full ownership of their data and prohibits any exploitation that may be harmful to him. Therefore, the SORA system must Meeting these requirements to collect and process data. This is a bold challenge because there are many solutions today, but due to the complexity of regulation, efforts are still being made to produce powerful and coveted data searches."

Would you like to connect to SORA during surgery to remotely train young surgeons to use new surgical techniques and/or use Safe products?

“Accompanying is an important part of our surgical training. In the past two years, the pandemic has had a negative impact on this training, and we may have to re-examine how it is performed. Providing on-site surgery is a very interesting option.” SORA solution. I am happy to share my experience, but I can also learn from the experience of other surgeons in my practice. "
