Medicaroid Receives MHLW Approval for the Use of the hinotoriTM Surgical Robot System in Gastroenterology and Gynecology

October 13, 2022 -- Medicaroid Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; President: Kaoru Asano; hereinafter referred to as "Medicaroid") announced it received the regulatory approval from the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) for the use of the hinotori Surgical Robot System in gastroenterology and gynecology on October 11. Medicaroid also announced that the HF Series Clip Applier (in 3 types: S, ML, and L), a dedicated instrument for the hinotori, was granted a manufacturing and marketing approval on June 15, which will be released with previously approved universal grasper.

The hinotori is a made-in-Japanrobotic-assisted surgery system which received a Japanese regulatory approval for the use in urology in August 2020, and has performed over 600 surgeries in domestic facilities since then. This approval expands the indication for the use of the hinotori to include gastroenterological and gynecologic surgery in addition to urologic surgery. The system will continue supporting patient-friendlyminimally-invasive surgery in the medical field.
